Yesterday began overcast so we set off for the city on the ferry then caught a bus out to Congee one of the eastern beaches. There is a coastal path with views over the ocean that reminded us of north Devon, the path however is more like a metalled road.
We walked to Bond, it took a couple of hours, then explored the front at Bond before having a light lunch in a café.
As we came to leave we could hear a siren going off, the shark alarm - more excitement, we sat and watched whilst lifeguards on a jetski charged up and down ushering everyone out of the water and news and coastguard helicopters buzzed overhead. We didn't actually we the shark, evidently the lifeguards had seen it chasing a shoal of fish.
